"Great, as always!"- E.W. / ZocDoc / Jan 16, 2019
"Where to begin! My husband and family had lived with Hailey-Hailey Disease (HHD, also known as familial benign chronic pemphigus) which is a rare, lifelong, inherited disorder where epidermal skin cells (keratinocytes) cannot properly adhere. This results in skin leisions that are open, oozing wounds. The wounds can appear anywhere, but most often is found in the trunk of the body and private areas. This is almost unbearable for the sufferer and the caregiver. There is usually short bouts of relief, sometimes.I came across a video online from an episode of "The Doctors", featuring Dr. Kingston. She is helping a lady guest on the show who also has HHD. We are so used to doctors never hearing of this, so we're astonished to hear she knew about it, and specialized in treating HHD. Lucky for us, she's local in Dallas area.My husband and family can't thank her enough! Never have they been HHD free, until now. We are forever in her debt!"- M.L. / Google / Mar 04, 2019

While the exact cause of rosacea is unknown, most believe that it's caused by a combination of hereditary and environmental factors. Rosacea patients usually have other family members who also suffer from either rosacea or severe acne. Scientists believe that immune system overreaction to certain triggers such as mites, bacteria, stress, alcohol, spicy foods, and ultraviolet light can cause rosacea. These theories, however, haven't been completely validated.
Symptoms of rosacea can vary from mild to severe. A tell-tale sign of rosacea is facial redness and sensitivity to many personal care products. In most patients, the central portion of the face is noticeably red when a flare-up is taking place. The small blood vessels of the nose and cheeks also can swell and become visible. Other symptoms include red bumps on the face that looks similar to acne. The skin can also feel hot and tender to the touch. Approximately half of rosacea sufferers experience eye problems, such as eye irritation, dryness, and reddened, swollen eyelids. In rare cases, a patient's nose will appear enlarged due to their rosacea. This condition can cause the skin around the nose to thicken, resulting in a bulbous appearance.
Though there is no cure for rosacea, there are a number of treatment options available to control this skin condition, including oral and topical medications that can help reduce redness as well as the bumps (papules and pustules) if present. Additionally, IPL treatments may be used to reduce redness. For severe cases of rosacea that do not respond to the usual treatments, a course of accutane or isotretinoin may be recommended.
