Microblading is for men and women in the Dallas, Texas area who want a fuller or more defined shape to their eyebrows that lasts a long time and looks natural. Many patients at Adean Kingston, M.D., PLLC who undergo microblading typically have thin eyebrows that need to look fuller or have small areas that they wish to fill in. Thin eyebrows or bald spots may be caused by genetics, surgical scars, traumatic injury, overplucking, nutritional deficiencies, and aging. Unlike tattooed eyebrows, microblading creates a more natural-looking result, providing full coverage or filling in small areas of the brows. Microblading can also help add a slight arch to the brow for a better shape. Ideal candidates are in overall good health, are not pregnant, and do not have severe diabetes (high blood sugar levels can compromise the healing process).
Before your microblading session, you will receive a thorough consultation to look over the shape of your eyebrows. Based on the condition of your eyebrows and along with your goals, a customized treatment plan will be created for your microblading session. The procedure can be performed in our office with a numbing cream or local anesthesia to minimize discomfort. Based on the extent of your treatment, the microblading process may take anywhere from 1 – 3 hours. To start the process, your eyebrows will be lightly combed and expertly trimmed. Your brows will then be marked with a makeup pen, which acts as a marker for where the microblading will be used. Adean Kingston, M.D., PLLC utilizes the highest quality of ink products along with the skillful PhiBrows technique to create natural-looking strokes that mimic individual hairs for your best results.
What to Expect
After your microblading procedure, you will be able to leave and resume all activities with no recovery time required. You may experience mild redness in and around the treated areas, but this usually dissipates in 1 – 2 hours. Your eyebrows will look much darker right after the microblading process, but they should fade to your desired shade in about two weeks. Dr. Kingston recommends that you schedule a follow-up appointment about one month after your initial treatment to touch-up and finalize your brows. The results of microblading typically last about 1 – 2 years, but the process can be repeated to sustain the look of your eyebrows.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why would I choose microblading over permanent makeup?
There are several differences between eyebrow tattooing (permanent makeup) and microblading. First, permanent makeup is done with a machine, and the ink is deposited much deeper into the skin. Therefore, even when trying to create the look of “hair,” the machine creates thick, unnatural-looking lines. Microblading uses a special hand tool that deposits pigment much more superficially, which creates the look of extremely fine, hair-like strokes. The result yields beautiful, natural-looking eyebrows. Microblading looks so natural, it can be done on individuals that have no eyebrow hairs at all!
Do my eyebrows need to be shaved or removed before my microblading treatment?
No. We ask that you not have any brow shaping/waxing/threading done at least two weeks before the procedure. Eyebrow shaping will be done by your microblading technician just before the procedure, according to the shape you both agree upon.
How do I know if my eyebrows could benefit from microblading?
Realistically, everyone's brows can benefit from microblading. Like they say, “Eyebrows are sisters, not twins!” Nobody's eyebrows are symmetrical. With the microblading procedure, we carefully measure your brows and create a beautiful, symmetrical shape. Some choose microblading to create this symmetry, whereas others want fuller/thicker brows, or even a more densely filled look.
