About bioTE
The hormones in your body have many important jobs that keep you healthy. However, with age, your hormones may start to become imbalanced, causing a variety of unpleasant symptoms, like mood changes, weight gain, and health problems. To help keep you healthy and happy as you age, seasoned dermatologist Dr. Adean Kingston offers bioTE hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). A custom bioTE pellet is inserted just under your skin to continuously release bio-identical hormones so your hormone levels reach normal levels. Dr. Kingston uses bioTE because the hormones in the pellets are exact replicas of what your body naturally produces (bio-identical). Reviews
who are ideal candidates for biote?
Hormone imbalances are common in both men and women, especially as they get older. A hormone imbalance can cause depression, low sex drive, weight gain, irritability, anxiety, fatigue, and trouble concentrating or remembering (brain fog). In men, a hormone imbalance can cause erectile dysfunction (ED) and certain health issues (diabetes, heart disease, and high cholesterol). In women, hormone imbalances can cause hot flashes, night sweats, and other symptoms of menopause.
what does the biote treatment process involve?
Blood work will be needed to determine your initial hormone levels and dosing. Once your bioTE pellets are made, Dr. Kingston will insert the pellets with local anesthesia through a small incision in your hip. After the bioTE pellets are inserted, you should not exercise or soak in water (baths, hot tubs, pools) for at least three days to keep the bandages clean and dry. You may experience some bruising, swelling, redness, or bleeding at the insertion site for 2 – 3 weeks. Please report any concerns or signs of an infection to our office immediately. After your pellets have been placed, blood work will be done again around 4 – 8 weeks to monitor your progress and determine if your dosing should be changed. For most patients, new pellets are needed to be inserted every 3 – 6 months to sustain their results.
What to Expect from biote treatment
In the first month after your bioTE pellets are placed, you may experience side effects as your body adjusts. Some of the most common are fluid retention (bloating), swelling in your hands and feet, mood swings or irritability, acne, as well as hair loss on your head and hair growth on your body. In female patients, you may also have spotting. Talk to Dr. Kingston about any side effects or reactions from your HRT so she can adjust your dose or give you recommendations on how to alleviate your symptoms.

How much does bio-identical replacement cost?
The cost of bioTE will vary from person to person, depending on their unique case, but it can be estimated during your initial consultation with Dr. Kingston of Adean Kingston, M.D., PLLC. Our practice accepts many forms of payment and offers installment plans to help make your treatment affordable.
What is bioTE?
Bio-identical replacement therapy or natural hormone therapy is the practice of inserting hormones into the body that are identical to the ones we already have. Your hormones control many different functions, including digestion, appetite, mood, libido, and your immune system. Therefore, when your hormones are imbalanced, it can lead to a variety of health concerns. This is why individuals turn to hormone therapy to restore the body to optimal health and function.
Traditional hormone therapy (HRT) vs. bio-identical (BHRT)?
Simply put, bio-identical hormones are chemically identical to the ones our bodies produce naturally and are made from plant estrogens. The hormones that are used in traditional replacement therapy are made from animal urine and other synthetic hormones. BHRT is considered to be more natural.
How often should I receive treatments?
The frequency of your treatment is dependent on your condition and specific needs. Dr. Kingston can discuss how often you should receive treatments once she has completed your blood work and determined the hormone imbalance in your body.
