Can I Combine Aesthetic Procedures?
During your private consultation, Dr. Kingston may suggest combining the NovaThreads technique with other nonsurgical skin rejuvenation procedures to optimize your outcome and meet your aesthetic goals. Some common treatments that may be combined with a PDO thread lift include:
- Fillers: Injectable dermal fillers may be used to plump certain areas of your face where volume is lost.
- Skin tightening: If the skin is loose, it may be best to have a nonsurgical skin tightening procedure to firm up areas of concern so that the NovaThreads can have optimal results.
- Facial rejuvenation treatments: We offer an array of skin treatments, such as cosmetic grade skin care products, chemical peels, lasers, and more to even out the tone and texture of your maturing skin.
- Wrinkle relaxers: NovaThreads work very well with wrinkle relaxers (such as BOTOX and Dysport) to decrease the prominence of your facial wrinkles.
"This was the best visit I have had in years since my melanoma doctor passed away. He was very famous. Director of the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica Cali. Yes he was JW’s doctor. I was President of the American Cancer Society for five years in Alaska so I know a lot about melanoma. She was on it. I was a tad scrambled as I was late every where that day. She is so knowledgeable and so is her nurse. She also has patches to detect melanoma without a biopsy. Brilliant. I was at Stanford a few months back and have been to Mayo. They are still chopping patients up. Even for basil cell carcinoma. Dr Kingston knows her stuff. Very pleasant and compassionate. The office is beautiful. This is my dermatologist forever! Amazing!!!!!"- B.H. / Yelp / Aug 29, 2023

Who is a Candidate for NovaThreads?
If you are experiencing slight sagging in your facial skin (in the areas of your brows, cheeks, chin, and jowls), you may be a good candidate for NovaThreads at Adean Kingston, M.D., PLLC. We also use NovaThreads on patients who have had previous plastic surgery procedures on the face (such as a facelift, neck lift, or brow lift) to refresh their appearance without an invasive approach. A consultation with Dr. Adean Kingston will be necessary to determine your candidacy for a PDO thread lift using NovaThreads.
After your face has been cleansed, Dr. Kingston will mark your skin where the various threads will be placed. During a NovaThreads treatment, which takes place in one of our comfortable treatment rooms, you will be awake. We generally use topical and injectable lidocaine (a local anesthetic) to numb the area before the NovaThreads are inserted. Once the sutures are in place, they can be adjusted as necessary to give the skin the proper lift. Our team will provide you with aftercare instructions so that you can have a smooth recovery. Your face may have some swelling and be sensitive to palpation, and we advise that you take ibuprofen and tylenol to alleviate the side effects. As the NovaThreads dissolve into your skin, you will see a natural boost in collagen production and gorgeous skin. There is no significant downtime with NovaThreads!
PDO Thread Lift FAQ
Are NovaThreads safe?
Absolutely! NovaThreads are FDA-approved and have been used for years to improve the appearance of wrinkled skin. The absorbable sutures dissolve naturally within a short period and do not require removal by a medical professional. NovaThreads also help with collagen production and skin tightening, resulting in more youthful looking skin that you can be proud of!
Is the procedure painful?
While this procedure does not cause pain, it may cause some mild to moderate discomfort. Patients are awake during treatment, and thus, we will numb the area prior to starting the threading process. If you have concerns or fears, please discuss this with us at the consultation as we want the treatment to be as comfortable as possible and for you to leave our office looking and feeling great.
Will I look overdone?
No. You will not look pulled back or too tight. The goal of this treatment is to give you a younger-looking, subtle lift with as natural of a result as possible. NovaThreads are customized to your aesthetic needs and performed by Dr. Kingston who is certified in this procedure.
What are the different types of PDO threads?
- Smooth threads: These sutures are placed beneath the skin in a ladder pattern to stimulate collagen production. Smooth threads are used to tighten lines and wrinkles while improving skin laxity.
- Twist threads: Shaped like a coil, twist threads are inserted under the skin to boost facial volume and collagen generation.
- Barb threads: Barb threads pull the skin upward to produce a more lifted and contoured appearance. They can provide enhancements to the mid-face, neck, jawline, and jowls.
Which type of PDO thread lift is right for me?
After a consultation at our office, the type of PDO thread lift will be chosen based on your skin type and goals. Dr. Kingston often combines multiple types of PDO threads to target a patient's specific anti-aging concerns.
