How is Cellulite Reduction Performed?
Our practice offers three in-office cellulite reduction procedures. Each has little to no downtime but may require more than one treatment in order to achieve your desired outcome.
The first of our treatment options, known as PDO threading, is a procedure in which threads will be inserted into the skin. Over time, they will slowly dissolve, beginning a process meant to stimulate collagen and elastin: two vital nutrients when it comes to the smoothness of your skin.
BodyFX is another alternative available to our patients. In this procedure, a handpiece will be applied to the area(s) afflicted with cellulite. The device is designed to emit radiofrequency (RF) energy into the body. The thermal energy created by these RF signals serves as a noninvasive means of stimulating collagen and elastin in the skin.
Lastly, Qwo is the only injectable treatment approved by the FDA to be used for moderate to severe cases of cellulite in the buttocks of adult women. Patients typically love this treatment due to its quick and effective nature. Injections usually only take around ten minutes with three appointments being scheduled 21 days apart. Additionally, visible results are usually seen within ten weeks of the treatment.
What Results Can I Expect After Cellulite Reduction?
Once your treatment plan is completed, you should be able to return to your normal daily routine. Additionally, a series of treatments could be necessary in order to curate the best possible results. Touch-up treatments can also be performed as a way to maintain your ideal outcome. Any additional aftercare instructions can be discussed with Dr. Kingston and staff following your procedure.
Nonsurgical Cellulite Reduction FAQ
Can you get rid of cellulite?
Cellulite is the dimpled or lumpy appearance your skin takes on when the fibrous connective tissue between the skin and muscles breaks and stretches. This is more often seen on the hips, thighs, and buttocks of women. According to the Mayo Clinic, there isn’t a way to utterly eliminate cellulite. However, there are effective treatments to significantly reduce the appearance of cellulite, including PDO threading, QWO, and BodyFX RF treatments.
What is the best treatment for cellulite?
There is no universally “best” treatment, so the best treatment is the one that works for your unique situation. At Adean Kingston Cosmetic & Medical Dermatology, we offer three different treatments to reduce the visibility of cellulite and smoothen the skin. Each one is highly effective, but which treatment or combination of treatments is right for you will be determined during your consultation. We offer:
- BodyFX – BodyFX uses radiofrequency (RF) heat energy to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in the skin to help reduce cellulite.
- PDO threading – this treatment option uses medical-grade polydioxanone (PDO) threads inserted into the skin to reduce cellulite. These protein threads relax the tendons and muscles while stimulating the production of collagen.
- QWO – The only injectable cellulite treatment approved by the FDA, QWO is effective at reducing the appearance of moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks.
What is QWO treatment for cellulite?
QWO (collagenase clostridium histolyticum-aaes) is the first of its kind and only FDA-approved injectable treatment for mild to severe cellulite in the buttocks. QWO works by targeting the fibrous bands under the skin, redistributing fat cells, and stimulating the production of collagen. Treatments are quick (about 10 minutes) and given once a week for three weeks. Many women begin to see results in as little as 10 weeks.
How can I minimize the appearance of cellulite?
Unfortunately, there’s no way to entirely remove cellulite. However, there are effective treatments to drastically reduce its visibility like QWO, BodyFX RF treatments, and PDO threading. You can also try these lifestyle changes to help with cellulite, such as:
- Get regular exercise to reduce total body fat
- Eat a healthy diet
- Drink less alcohol
- Stay hydrated (drink plenty of water)
- Try dry brushing to exfoliate and stimulate the skin
